حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ، ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مُطِيعٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُطِيعًا، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزْدَادَ التُّوزِيُّ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ الرَّقِّيُّ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ مُطِيعٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ: «لَا يَنْبَغِي أَنْ يُقْتَلَ قُرَشِيٌّ بَعْدَ يَوْمِي هَذَا صَبْرًا»

Sayyiduna Muti' (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and then the narrator mentioned a hadith like it.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Muti' bin al-Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said on the day of the Conquest of Makkah: "After this day of mine, it is not fitting that any Qurayshi be taken captive and killed without a fight."
