It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abd al-Muttalib bin Rabi'ah (may Allah be pleased with him): Some people from the Ansar said to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "We hear from some people of Quraysh that one of them says: 'The example of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is only like a date palm that has grown on a rubbish heap.'" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O people, who am I?" They said: "You are the Messenger of Allah." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I am Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Abd al-Muttalib" - they said: We had never heard him trace his lineage like this before - then he said: "Indeed, Allah created His creation, then divided them into two groups and placed me in the better group. Then He made them into tribes and placed me in the best of their tribes. So I am the best of you in household and the best of you in person."
