حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا خَلَّادُ بْنُ يَحْيَى، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَبِشْرُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَا: ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ أَبِي كَرِيمَةَ الشَّامِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَيْلَةُ الضَّيْفِ حَقٌّ وَاجِبٌ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ، فَإِنْ أَصْبَحَ بِفِنَائِهِ فَهُوَ دَيْنٌ عَلَيْهِ، إِنْ شَاءَ اقْتَضَاهُ، وَإِنْ شَاءَ تَرَكَهُ»
Sayyiduna al-Miqdam Abu Karimah al-Shami (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Hosting a guest for one night is an obligatory right upon every Muslim. If he (the guest) spends the morning in his courtyard (without being hosted), it is a debt owed by the host; if he wishes he may claim it, and if he wishes he may leave it."
