حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ هُودٍ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنَا الْمُسْتَلِمُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ زَاذَانَ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ قُرَّةَ، عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا ذَكَرَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ أَصَابَ امْرَأَةً ذَاتَ جَمَالٍ وَمَنْصِبٍ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهَا لَا تَلِدُ فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا، ثُمَّ عَادَ فَنَهَاهُ عَنْهَا، وَقَالَ: «تَزَوَّجُوا الْوَلُودَ الْوَدُودَ فَإِنِّي مُكَاثِرٌ بِكُمْ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man mentioned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he had found a woman of beauty and of a noble family, except that she could not bear children, so he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him from marrying her. He came again, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade him again, and said: "Marry the woman who bears many children and is loving, for I will take pride in your great numbers (before the other nations)."
