حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، ثنا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ ابْنِ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَتِيكٍ، عَنْ أَبِيه، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مِنَ الْغَيْرَةِ مَا يُحِبُّ اللهُ، وَمِنْهَا مَا يُبْغِضُ اللهُ، فَأَمَّا مَا يُحِبُّ اللهُ مِنَ الْغَيْرَةِ فَالْغَيْرَةُ فِي الرِّيبَةِ، وَأَمَّا الْغَيْرَةُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللهُ فَالْغَيْرَةُ فِي غَيْرِ رِيبَةٍ، وَأَمَّا الْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُحِبُّ اللهُ فَاخْتِيَالُ الرَّجُلِ بِنَفْسِهِ عِنْدَ الْقِتَالِ، وَأَمَّا الْخُيَلَاءُ الَّتِي يُبْغِضُ اللهُ فَاخْتِيَالُ الرَّجُلِ فِي الْبَغْيِ وَالْفُجُورِ»
Ibn Atik narrates from his father that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Among jealousy is that which Allah loves and that which Allah dislikes. That which Allah loves is jealousy where there is cause for suspicion, and that which Allah dislikes is jealousy without cause. Among pride, that which Allah loves is a man's taking pride in himself at the time of fighting, and that which Allah dislikes is taking pride in oppression and wickedness."
