حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ، ثنا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، ثنا خَالِدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، أَنَّ مَعْقِلَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ، مَرِضَ فَأَتَاهُ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ يَعُودُهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ مَعْقِلٌ: لَأُحَدِّثَنَّكَ بِحَدِيثٍ لَمْ أُحَدِّثْكَ، إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ اسْتَرْعَاهُ اللهُ رَعِيَّةً، فَمَاتَ وَهُوَ غَاشٌّ لَهَا إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ»
Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) fell ill, and Ubaydullah bin Ziyad came to visit him. Ma'qil (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: I will tell you a hadith that I have not told you before. I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "There is no servant whom Allah makes the guardian of a flock (of people) and he dies while being treacherous towards them, except that Allah Almighty forbids Paradise to him."
