Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 17588 — On the day of the Pledge of Ridwan, I

حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ هَاشِمٍ الْبَغَوِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ، ثنا عَتَّابُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، عَنِ الْمُضَاءِ الْخَزَّازِ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: قَالَ مَعْقِلُ بْنُ يَسَارٍ: كُنْتُ يَوْمَ بَيْعَةِ الرِّضْوَانِ رَافِعًا غُصْنًا مِنْ أَغْصَانِ الشَّجَرَةِ، عَنْ رَأْسِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ، «لَمْ يُبَايِعْهُمْ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ، بَايَعَهُمْ عَلَى أَنْ لَا يَفِرُّوا، وَكَانَ يُصَافِحُ النِّسَاءَ مِنْ تَحْتِ الثَّوْبِ»
Sayyiduna Ma'qil bin Yasar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: On the day of the Pledge of Ridwan, I was holding up one of the branches of the tree above the blessed head of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was taking the pledge from the people. "He (peace and blessings be upon him) did not take their pledge upon death; rather, he took their pledge that they would not flee. And he (peace and blessings be upon him) used to shake hands with the women from beneath a cloth."
