حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ طَاوُوسٍ، عَنْ مُعَاذٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَا عَمِلَ آدَمِيٌّ عَمَلًا أَنْجَى لَهُ مِنْ عَذَابِ اللهِ مِنْ ذِكْرِ اللهِ» ، قَالُوا: وَلَا الْجِهَادُ فِي سَبِيلِ اللهِ؟ قَالَ: «وَلَا، إِلَّا أَنْ تَضْرِبَ بِسَيْفِكَ حَتَّى يَنْقَطِعَ» ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ
Tawus al-Yamani (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him); he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No human being has done any deed that saves him more from the punishment of Allah than the remembrance of Allah." The Companions said: "Not even jihad in the path of Allah?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Not even that, unless you strike with your sword until it breaks." He said this three times.
