حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ خَالِدِ بْنِ حَيَّانَ الرَّقِّيُّ، ثنا رَوْحُ بْنُ صَلَاحٍ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ طَاوُوسٍ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «لَا طَلَاقَ لِمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ، وَلَا عَتَاقَ لِمَنْ لَا يَمْلِكُ»
Tawus al-Yamani (may Allah have mercy on him) narrates from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no divorce in what one does not own, and whoever does not own someone has no (power of) freeing him."
