حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ قَالَا: ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ حُمَيْدٍ الطَّوِيلِ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ عَمِيرَةَ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ: " تَكُونُ فِتَنٌ يَكْثُرُ فِيهَا الْمَالُ، وَيُفْتَحُ فِيهَا الْقُرْآنُ حَتَّى يَقْرَأَ الرَّجُلُ وَالْمَرْأَةُ وَالصَّغِيرُ وَالْكَبِيرُ وَالْمُؤْمَنُ وَالْمُنَافِقُ، فَيَقْرَأُهُ وَلَا يُتَّبَعُ، فَيَقُولُ: وَاللهِ لَأَقْرَأَنَّهُ عَلَانِيَةً، وَلَا يُتَّبَعُ، فَيَقْصِدُ مَسْجِدًا فَيَبْتَدِعُ كَلَامًا لَيْسَ مِنْ كِتَابِ اللهِ، وَلَا مِنْ سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَإِيَّاكُمْ وَإِيَّاهَا، فَإِنَّهَا بِدْعَةٌ ضَلَالَةٌ، فَإِيَّاكُمْ وَإِيَّاهُ فَإِنَّهَا بِدْعَةٌ ضَلَالَةٌ، فَإِيَّاكُمْ وَإِيَّاهُ فَإِنَّهَا بِدْعَةٌ ضَلَالَةٌ "
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: There will be trials in which wealth will increase, and the Qur'an will be opened up (to all), until men and women, young and old, believer and hypocrite will all read it. Then (a person) will read it but will not be followed, so he will say: By Allah, I shall certainly read it openly; yet still he will not be followed. Then he will head for a mosque and invent speech that is neither from the Book of Allah nor from the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So beware of it (that speech), for it is an innovation of misguidance; beware of him (that person), for it is an innovation of misguidance; beware of him (that person), for it is an innovation of misguidance.
