It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me a deed which, when I do it, I will enter Paradise. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not associate anything with Allah, even if you are burned. Obey your parents, even if they turn you out of your wealth. Do not drink wine, for it is the key to every evil. Do not abandon the prayer deliberately, for whoever abandons the prayer deliberately, the protection of Allah is free of him. Do not contest authority with those who hold it, even if you see that it is your right. Spend on your family according to your means, and do not lift the stick (of discipline) from them; make them fear (Allah) for the sake of Allah. Do not commit treachery. Do not flee from the battlefield."
