حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَالْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، ثنا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ لَيْثٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَابِطٍ، عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ، عَنْ مُعَاذٍ، وَأَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ قَالَا: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ بَدَأَ رَحْمَةً وَنُبُوَّةً، ثُمَّ تَكُونُ رَحْمَةً وَخِلَافَةً، ثُمَّ كَائِنًا مُلْكًا عَضُوضًا، ثُمَّ كَائِنًا عُتُوًّا وَجَبْرِيَّةً، وَفَسَادًا فِي الْأَرْضِ، يَسْتَحِلُّونَ الْحَرِيرَ، وَالْفُرُوجَ، وَالْخَمْرَ، وَيُرْزَقُونَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ حَتَّى يَلْقَوْنَ اللهَ»
Sayyiduna Abu Tha'labah al-Khushani (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from Sayyiduna Mu'adh and Sayyiduna Abu Ubaydah (may Allah be pleased with them both); both of them said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This matter (that is, the caliphate) began with mercy and prophethood, then there will be mercy and caliphate, then it will become a biting kingship, then it will become tyranny, oppression and corruption in the land. They will regard silk, private parts (unlawful relations) and wine as lawful, and they will still be provided for in that state until they meet Allah."
