حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلْمٍ الرَّازِيُّ، ثنا سُهَيْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ، ثنا عَبِيدَةُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ، هَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: «لَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «فَهَلْ تَدْرِي مَا حَقُّهُمْ عَلَيْهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ: اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ، قَالَ: «أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»
Sayyiduna Mu'adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Mu'adh bin Jabal! Do you know what the right of Allah over His servants is?" I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: "That they do not associate anything with Him." Then he said: "Then do you know what their right over Him is when they do that?" I said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: "That He does not punish them."
