حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ، وَحَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ الْحَجَبِيُّ، قَالَا: ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ بَهْزِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَوْرَاتُنَا مَا نَأْتِي مِنْهَا وَمَا نَذَرُ؟، قَالَ: «اسْتُرْ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلَّا مِنْ زَوْجِكَ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ» . زَادَ الْحَجَبِيُّ فِي حَدِيثِهِ: قُلْتُ: الْقَوْمُ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي بَعْضٍ؟، قَالَ: «إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لَا يَرَاهَا أَحَدٌ فَلَا يَرَيَنَّهَا» ، قُلْتُ: فَإِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُنَا خَالِيًا؟، قَالَ: «فَاللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَى مِنْهُ»
Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah bin Haydah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: I said: "O Messenger of Allah! Our private parts: what may we expose of them and what must we cover?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Cover your private parts except from your wife or your slave woman."
Al-Hajabi added in his narration: I said: "When people are gathered together with one another?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you are able to ensure that no one sees them, then let no one see them at all." I said: "And what if one of us is alone?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah is more deserving that one should feel modesty before Him."
Al-Hajabi added in his narration: I said: "When people are gathered together with one another?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you are able to ensure that no one sees them, then let no one see them at all." I said: "And what if one of us is alone?" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah is more deserving that one should feel modesty before Him."
