ثنا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، ثنا الْأَسْوَدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ جُنْدُبٍ، قَالَ: «أَبْطَأَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ» فَقَالَ الْمُشْرِكُونَ: قَدْ وُدِّعَ مُحَمَّدٌ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى رَسُولِهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: {مَا وَدَّعَكَ رَبُّكَ وَمَا قَلَى وَلَلآخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنَ الْأُولَى وَلَسَوْفَ يُعْطِيكَ رَبُّكَ فَتَرْضَى} [الضحى: ٤]
Al-Aswad bin Qays relates that Sayyiduna Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Jibril (peace be upon him) was late in coming to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so the polytheists said: "Muhammad has been abandoned." So Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, revealed this verse to His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): "Your Lord has neither forsaken you nor is He displeased. And the Hereafter is surely better for you than the first (life). And your Lord will soon give you so much that you will be pleased" [Surah al-Duha: 4].
