حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْحَرْمَلِيُّ الْأَنْطَاكِيُّ، ثنا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ، كَتَبَ إِلَى مَسْلَمَةَ بْنَ مَخْلَدٍ أَنْ سَلْ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ، هَلْ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا قُدِّسَتْ أُمَّةٌ لَا يَأْخُذُ ضَعِيفُهَا حَقَّهُ مِنْ قَوِيِّهَا وَهُوَ غَيْرُ مُضْطَهَدٍ» ، فَإِنْ قَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَاحْمِلْهُ إِلَيَّ عَلَى الْبَرِيدِ، فَسَأَلَهُ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ، فَحَمَلَهُ عَلَى الْبَرِيدِ مِنْ مِصْرَ إِلَى الشَّامِ، فَسَأَلَهُ مُعَاوِيَةُ فَأَخْبَرَهُ، فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ: وَأَنَا قَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ، وَلَكِنْ أَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ أَثَّبَتَ
Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote to Maslamah bin Mukhallad: Ask Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with them both) whether he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "A nation is not pure in which the weak cannot take his right from the strong without being oppressed." If he says: Yes, then bring him to me by the postal relay. So he asked him, and Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: Yes. So he was brought by the postal relay from Egypt to Syria. Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him and he told him. At this, Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I too had heard this hadith, but I wanted to confirm it.
