حَدَّثَنَا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، ثنا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، أَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ مُطْعِمٍ، قَالَ: بَلَغَ مُعَاوِيَةَ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو يُحَدِّثُ يَذْكُرُ أَنَّهُ يَكُونُ مَلِكٌ مِنْ قَحْطَانَ، فَغَضِبَ وَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا يَزَالُ هَذَا الْأَمْرُ فِي قُرَيْشٍ لَا يُعَادِيهِمْ أَحَدٌ إِلَّا كُبَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَا أَقَامُوا الدِّينَ»
Muhammad bin Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah have mercy on him) said: It reached Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) that Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with them both) was narrating, mentioning that soon there would be a king from Qahtan. He became angry and said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "This matter (of leadership) will always remain in Quraysh; no one will show enmity to them but he will be thrown on his face, as long as they establish the religion."
