حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِرْقٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُصَفًّى، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ جَبَلَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، أَنَّ أَبَا الدَّرْدَاءِ، قَالَ كَلِمَةً نَفَعَ اللهُ بِهَا مُعَاوِيَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا تُفَتِّشُوا النَّاسَ فَتُفْسِدُوهُمْ»
Sayyiduna Abu al-Darda' (may Allah be pleased with him) said something by which Allah benefited Mu'awiyah; he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Do not search out people's faults, or you will corrupt them."
