Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 16595 — from his father, Muhammad bin Fadalah

Yunus bin Muhammad bin Fadalah al-Zafari narrates from his father, Muhammad bin Fadalah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was one of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to them in the mosque of Banu Zafar and sat on the rock which is still in the mosque of Banu Zafar today. With him (peace and blessings be upon him) were Abdullah bin Mas'ud, Mu'adh bin Jabal and some other of his (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered a reciter (to recite), and he recited until he reached this verse: "So how will it be when We bring from every nation a witness, and bring you as a witness over all of these?" [Surah al-Nisa: 41]. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wept until both his (peace and blessings be upon him) jaws trembled, and he said: "O my Lord! I bear witness over those among whom I have lived, so what of those whom I have not even seen?"
