حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ: أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَسْلَمَتْ وَزَوْجُهَا مُشْرِكٌ أَبُو الْعَاصِ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، ثُمَّ أَسْلَمَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ بِحِينٍ فَلَمْ يُجَدِّدْ نِكَاحًا ". قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ: «وَذَكَرَ مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ»
It is narrated from al-Sha'bi (may Allah have mercy on him) that Sayyidah Zaynab (may Allah be pleased with her), the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), accepted Islam while her husband Abu al-As bin al-Rabi' was a polytheist. Then some time later he also accepted Islam, and they did not renew the marriage contract. Abd al-Razzaq said: Ma'mar narrated this from Jabir, from al-Sha'bi.
