Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 16471 — a Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Kudayr al-Dabbi (may Allah be pleased with him) that a Bedouin came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: Tell me of a deed that will bring me near to Paradise and keep me far from Hell. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Is it these two things that concern you?" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Speak what is just and give the surplus of your wealth." He said: By Allah, I cannot speak what is just all the time, nor can I give the surplus of my wealth. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Feed people and spread the greeting of peace." He said: This too is difficult. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do you have camels?" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then take one camel from your camels and a waterskin, then go to a household that drinks water only at intervals and give them water to drink. Perhaps your camel will not die and your waterskin will not tear before Paradise becomes due for you." So the Bedouin went off saying the takbir, and neither did his waterskin tear nor did his camel die until he was killed as a martyr.
