Sayyiduna Kaladah bin Hanbal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Safwan bin Umayyah (may Allah be pleased with him) sent me on the day of the Conquest of Makkah to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with milk, a young gazelle and cucumbers, while the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the upper part of the valley. I went in without asking permission and without greeting, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Go out and say: As-salamu alaykum (peace be upon you), may I come in?" This was after Safwan had accepted Islam. Abu Asim (the narrator) said: Dagha'bis is a vegetable (herb) that grows in the desert.
