حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ السَّكَنِ، ثنا أَبُو قَحْذَمَ، عَنْ أبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ أبِي الْأَشْعَثِ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَة، قَالَ: كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُنَا عَنِ الْفِتَنِ، فَمَرَّ رَجُلٌ مُقَنَّعٌ، فَقَالَ: «هَذَا يَوْمَئِذٍ وَأَصْحَابُهُ عَلَى الْهُدَى» ، فَقُمْتُ فَلَحِقْتُهُ فَكَشَفْتُ الْقِنَاعَ عَنْ رَأْسِهِ، فَإِذَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَفَّانَ، قُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا؟، قَالَ: «نَعَمْ»
Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Ujrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was telling us about the tribulations, when a man with his face covered passed by, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This man and his companions will be upon guidance on that day." I stood up, caught up with him and removed the covering from his head, and saw that it was Sayyiduna Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him). I said: O Messenger of Allah, is it this man? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes."
