Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 16189 — Mula'ib al-Asinnah came to the Messenger

Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Mula'ib al-Asinnah came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) with a gift, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) presented Islam to him, but he refused to accept Islam. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then I do not accept the gift of an idolater."
He said: Send whomever you wish to the people of Najd; I will be their protector. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) sent some men to them, among whom was Mundhir bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him), who was called "al-Mu'niq" (the one who hastened), because he hastened forward at the time of death. Then Amir bin al-Tufayl sought the help of Banu Amir against them, but they refused to obey him and also refused to break the protection given by Mula'ib al-Asinnah. So he sought the help of Banu Sulaym against them, and they obeyed him. He pursued them with about a hundred archers, caught up with them at Bi'r Ma'unah, and killed them all except Amr bin Umayyah al-Damri (may Allah be pleased with him).
