Muhammad bin Sirin (may Allah have mercy on him) says: News reached al-Harith, a man of Quraysh who lived in Syria, that Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) was in hardship, so he sent him three hundred dinars. Abu Dharr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Did he not find any servant of Allah more contemptible to him than me? I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever has forty (dirhams) and still asks has asked importunately,'" while the family of Abu Dharr had forty dirhams, forty goats and two mahinin. Abu Bakr bin Ayyash says: "By mahinin is meant two servants."
