حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ جَابِرٍ الْبَخْتَرِيُّ الطَّائِيُّ الْحِمْصِيُّ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ لَيْلَةً كَعْبًا، وَهُوَ أَحَدُ الثَّلَاثَةِ الَّذِينَ تِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ، يَقُولُ: «لَمَّا بُشِّرْتُ بِالتَّوْبَةِ أَقْبَلَتُ أُرِيدُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَطَفِقَ النَّاسُ يَتَلَقَّوْنَنِي فَوْجًا فَوْجًا يُهَنِّئُونَنِي بِتَوْبَةِ اللهِ عَلَيَّ، حَتَّى إِذَا دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ قَامَ إِلَيَّ طَلْحَةُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ حَتَّى صَافَحَنِي»
Abdullah bin Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah have mercy on him) said: One night I heard Sayyiduna Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him), who was one of the three whose repentance was accepted, say: "When I was given the good news of the repentance, I set out towards the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and people met me in crowds, congratulating me on Allah's acceptance of my repentance, until, when I entered the mosque, Talhah bin Ubaydullah (may Allah be pleased with him) got up towards me and shook my hand."
