It is narrated from a man of Banu Qushayr, Sayyiduna Qurrah bin Hubayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: "We had some lords and goddesses whom we used to worship besides Allah. We called upon them, but they did not answer; we asked them, but they gave nothing. Then we came to you, and Allah guided us through you, so now we worship Allah." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Successful is the one who has been granted intellect."
He said: "O Messenger of Allah! Clothe me with two of your garments that you have worn." So he (peace and blessings be upon him) clothed him with them. Then, when they were at the standing place in Arafat, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Repeat your words to me." So he repeated the same words, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Successful is the one who has been granted intellect."
