It is narrated from Sayyiduna Qurrah bin Iyas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man used to come and go to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) bringing a son of his with him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Do you love him?" He said: May Allah love you as much as I love him. Then his son died, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Where is so-and-so?" The people said: O Messenger of Allah! His son has died. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Does it not please you that whichever gate of Paradise you come to, he (your son) will come and open it for you?" The people said: O Messenger of Allah! Is this specific to him, or is it for all of us? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "No, rather it is for all of you."
Imam al-Tabarani (may Allah have mercy on him) said: This wording is from the narration of Amr bin Marzuq.
