Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 16072 — When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ appointed

حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ بَحْرٍ، ثنا قَتَادَةُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي الْفَضْلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ هِشَامِ بْنِ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: لَمَّا عَقَدَ لِي رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى قَوْمِي أَخَذْتُ يَدَهُ فَوَدَّعْتُهُ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «جَعَلَ اللهُ التَّقْوَى زَادَكَ، وَغَفَرَ ذَنْبِكَ، وَوَجَّهَكَ إِلَى الْخَيْرِ حَيْثُ مَا يَكُونُ»
Sayyiduna Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) appointed me as leader over my people, I took his (peace and blessings be upon him) hand to bid him farewell, and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "May Allah make piety (taqwa) your provision for the journey, forgive your sin, and guide you towards good wherever you may be."
