حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ رَاهَوَيْهِ، ثَنَا أَبِي، ثَنَا جَرِيرُ، ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الصَّائِغُ الْمَكِّيُّ، ثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، ثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ قَالَا: ثَنَا الْكَلْبِيُّ، عَنْ حُمَيْضَةَ بْنِ الشَّمَرْدَلِ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ قَيْسِ بْنِ عَمِيرَةَ، قَالَ: أَسْلَمْتُ وَعِنْدِي ثَمَانِ نِسْوَةٍ وَأَسْلَمْنَ مَعِي وَهَاجَرْنَ مَعِي، فَقَالَ: «اخْتَرْ أَرْبَعًا مِنْهُنَّ» فَجَعَلْتُ أَقُولُ لِلَّتِي أُرِيدُ إِمْسَاكَهَا: أَقْبِلِي، ولِلَّتِي لَا أُرِيدُ إِمْسَاكَهَا: أَدْبِرِي
Sayyiduna al-Harith bin Qays bin Amirah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I accepted Islam while I had eight wives; they all accepted Islam with me and migrated with me. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Choose four of them." So I would say to the one I wanted to keep: Come forward; and to the one I did not want to keep: Go back.
