حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْفِرْيَابِيُّ، ثنا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، ثنا رِشْدِينَ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هَانِي، عَنْ أَبِي عَلِيٍّ الْجَنْبِيِّ، عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ: بَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَاعِدًا، إِذْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ فَصَلَّى، ثُمَّ قَالَ: اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَارْحَمْنِي، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «عَجِلْتَ أَيُّهَا الْمُصَلِّي، إِذَا صَلَّيْتَ فَقَعَدْتَ، فَاحْمَدِ اللهَ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ، ثُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَيَّ، ثُمَّ ادْعُهُ» . ثُمَّ صَلَّى آخَرُ، فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَصَلَّى عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «سَلْ تُعْطَهُ»
Sayyiduna Fadalah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was sitting when a man came in and prayed, then said: "O Allah, forgive me and have mercy on me." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "O worshipper, you have been hasty. When you pray and sit, first praise Allah as He deserves, then send blessings upon me, then supplicate to Him." Then another man prayed; he praised Allah and sent blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him: "Ask, and you will be given."
