حَدَّثَنَا وَرَدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ لَبِيدٍ الْبَيْرُوتِيُّ، ثنا صَفْوَانُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ مَرْوَانَ بْنِ جُنَاحٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ بْنِ حَلْبَسٍ، عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا أَتَاهُ أَصْحَابُهُ، قَالَ: «تَدَارَسُوا وَأَبْشِرُوا وَزِيدُوا زَادَكُمُ اللهُ خَيْرًا، وَأَحَبَّكُمْ وَأَحَبَّ مَنْ يُحِبُّكُمْ، رُدُّوا عَلَيْنَا الْمَسَائِلَ، فَإِنَّ أَجْرَ آخِرِهَا كَأَجْرِ أَوَّلِهَا، وَاخْلِطُوا حَدِيثَكُمْ بِالِاسْتِغْفَارِ»
When his companions came to Sayyiduna Fadalah bin Ubayd (may Allah be pleased with him), he would say: "Study (the religion) together, rejoice, and keep increasing; may Allah increase you in goodness, and may He love you and love whoever loves you. Keep repeating the questions to us, for the reward of the last of them is like the reward of the first, and mix your conversation with seeking forgiveness."
