Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 15819 — a woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ رِشْدِينَ الْمِصْرِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى بْنِ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ عِيسَى بْنِ جَابِرٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ بْنِ مُوسَى، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ اسْتَفْتَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، أَنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي شَيْخًا كَبِيرًا، لَا يَسْتَطِيعُ أَنْ يَسْتَوِيَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ، فَهَلْ يُغْنِي عَنْهُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «نَعَمْ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for a ruling: "The obligation of Allah upon His servants regarding Hajj has reached my father while he is a very old man; he cannot sit upright on a mount. Would my performing Hajj on his behalf suffice for him?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes."
