حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ، ثنا وَهْبُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَنَّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ خَثْعَمٍ سَأَلْتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَالْفَضْلُ رَدِيفُهُ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّ فَرِيضَةَ اللهِ فِي الْحَجِّ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ أَدْرَكَتْ أَبِي وَهُوَ شَيْخٌ كَبِيرٌ، إِنْ شَدُّوهُ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ لَمْ يَسْتَمْسِكْ، أَفَأَحُجُّ عَنْهُ؟ قَالَ: «نَعَمْ حُجِّي عَنْهُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna al-Fadl bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) that a woman from the tribe of Khath'am asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a question while al-Fadl was riding behind him. She said: O Messenger of Allah! The obligation of Hajj that Allah has placed upon His servants has come upon my father while he is a very old man; even if he were tied onto his mount, he could not hold steady. Shall I perform Hajj on his behalf? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, perform Hajj on his behalf."
