Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 15460 — Once, while Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn

Al-Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Once, while Sayyiduna Imran bin Husayn (may Allah be pleased with him) was narrating hadith from our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a man said to him: O Abu Nujayd, narrate to us from the Qur'an. Sayyiduna Imran (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: "Tell me, you and your companions who read the Qur'an, could you tell me how much zakah is due on gold, camels, cattle and the various kinds of wealth, whether you are present or absent?" Then he said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prescribed such-and-such amounts in zakah." The man said: O Abu Nujayd, you have brought me to life; may Allah keep you alive. Then al-Hasan said: "That man did not die until he was counted among the jurists of the Muslims."
