Sayyiduna Jubayr bin Mut'im (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A Bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Souls are exhausted, children are perishing, livestock have died and the animals have grown weak. Pray to Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, for rain for us, for we seek your intercession with Allah, and we seek Allah's intercession with you. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Woe to you! Do you know what you are saying?" Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) began saying Subhan Allah (glory be to Allah), and he (peace and blessings be upon him) kept on saying Subhan Allah until it became visible on the faces of his (peace and blessings be upon him) Companions. Then he said: "Woe to you! Allah is not made an intercessor with any of His creation; the majesty of Allah is far greater than that. Woe to you! Do you know what Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is? Indeed, His Throne is over His heavens and His earths like this," and he (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his two fingers, "like a dome, and it creaks beneath Him as a saddle creaks beneath its rider."
