It is narrated from Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My Ummah will be divided into three thirds: one third will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment; one third will be given an easy reckoning, then they will enter Paradise; and one third will be tried and examined. Then the angels will come and say: We found them saying 'La ilaha illa Allah wahdahu' (There is no god but Allah alone). Allah will say: They spoke the truth; there is no true god but Me. Admit them into Paradise because of their saying 'La ilaha illa Allah wahdahu', and load their sins onto the deniers." This is what Allah Almighty said: "And they will surely carry their own burdens and other burdens along with their burdens" [al-Ankabut: 13]. And its confirmation is in the verse in which the angels are mentioned; Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, says: "Then We gave the Book as inheritance to those whom We chose from among Our servants" [Fatir: 32]. So He divided them into three groups, and all of them are categories: "So among them is one who wrongs himself" [Fatir: 32]; these are the ones who will be tried and examined. "And among them is one who is moderate" [Fatir: 32]; these are the ones who will be given an easy reckoning. "And among them is one who is foremost in good deeds by the permission of Allah" [Fatir: 32]; these are the ones who will enter Paradise without reckoning or punishment by the permission of Allah. They will all enter it together, with no distinction made between them. There they will be adorned with bracelets of gold and pearls, and their clothing there will be silk. And they will say: "All praise is for Allah, who has removed grief from us. Indeed, our Lord is Most Forgiving, Most Appreciative; who has settled us in the Home of Permanence out of His bounty, where no fatigue will touch us and no weariness will touch us. And those who disbelieved will have the fire of Hell; it will not be decreed for them that they die, nor will its punishment be lightened for them. Thus do We recompense every ungrateful one" [Fatir: 34].
