Sayyiduna Awf bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) says: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while he (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a building of his. I greeted him with salam, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Awf bin Malik?" I said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Come in." I said: Completely, or part of me? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Rather, completely." Then he said to me: "O Awf, count six things before the Hour; the first: my death." I began to weep, until he (peace and blessings be upon him) kept trying to quieten me. Then he said: "Say: one." "And the second: the conquest of Bayt al-Maqdis; say: two." I said: Two. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And the third: a pestilence will spread in my Ummah that will seize them like the pestilence of sheep; say: three." I said: Three. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And the fourth: a tribulation will arise in my Ummah," and he described it as very grave, then said: "Say: four." I said: Four. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And the fifth: wealth will spread among you so much that a man will be given a hundred dinars and will be displeased with it; say: five." I said: Five. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And the sixth: there will be a truce between you and Banu al-Asfar, then they will march against you with eighty banners, with twelve thousand troops under each banner. On that day the camp of the Muslims will be in a land called al-Ghutah, in a city called Damascus."
