عكرمة بن أبي جهل بن هشام بن المغيرة بن عبد الله بن عمر بن مخزوم أمه أم مجالد امرأة من بني هلال، أسلم عام الفتح، واستشهد يوم اليرموك في خلافة عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنهما، وقيل: استشهد يوم أجنادين
Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl bin Hisham bin al-Mughirah bin Abdullah bin Umar bin Makhzum (may Allah be pleased with him); his mother was Umm Mujalid, a woman of Banu Hilal; he accepted Islam in the year of the Conquest and was martyred on the day of Yarmuk during the caliphate of Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), and it is said he was martyred on the day of Ajnadayn

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُسَاوِرٍ الْجَوْهَرِيُّ، ثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ خِدَاشٍ، ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ أَبِي جَهْلٍ إِذَا اجْتَهَدَ فِي الْيَمِينِ قَالَ: " وَالَّذِي نَجَّانِي يَوْمِ بَدْرٍ، وَكَانَ يَأْخُذُ الْمُصْحَفَ وَيَضَعُهُ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ وَيَقُولُ: «كَلَامُ رَبِّي كَلَامُ رَبِّي»
Ibn Abi Mulaykah said: When Sayyiduna Ikrimah bin Abi Jahl (may Allah be pleased with him) swore a solemn oath, he would say: "By the One who saved me on the day of Badr." And he would take the mushaf, place it on his face and say: "The speech of my Lord, the speech of my Lord."
