حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، وَأَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ قَالَا: ثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ، ثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ، قَالَ: جَمَعَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ بِشْرِ بْنِ عَاصِمٍ رَجُلٌ فَحَدَّثَنِي، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ جَيْشًا لِرَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غَشُوا أَهْلَ مَاءٍ صُبْحًا، فَثَارَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْمَاءِ فَحَمَلَ عَلَيْهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي مُسْلِمٌ، فَقَتَلَهُ، فَلَمَّا قَدِمُوا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أُخْبِرَ بِذَلِكَ فَقَامَ خَطِيبًا فَحَمِدَ اللهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: " أَمَّا بَعْدُ فَمَا بَالُ الْمُسْلِمِ يَقْتُلُ الْمُسْلِمَ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: إِنِّي مُسْلِمٌ " فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، قَالَهَا تَعَوُّذًا فَقَالَ: هَكَذَا وَحَوَّلَ وَجْهَهُ عَنْهُ، فَقَالَ: «إِنَّ اللهَ أَبَى عَلَيَّ فِيمَنْ قَتَلَ مُسْلِمًا» قَالَهَا ثَلَاثًا
Humayd bin Hilal said: A man brought me and Bishr bin Asim together, and he narrated to me from Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that an army of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) fell upon the people of a watering place early in the morning. A man from the people of the watering place rose up, and a man from the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) attacked him. He said: I am a Muslim. But he killed him. When they came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed of it. He (peace and blessings be upon him) stood up to deliver a sermon, praised and extolled Allah, and then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Amma ba'd (to proceed): What is the matter with a Muslim that he kills a Muslim while he is saying: I am a Muslim?" At that, he said: O Messenger of Allah! He only said it to save himself. He (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured like this and turned his face away from him, then said: "Allah has refused me concerning whoever kills a Muslim." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said this three times.
