حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ، قَالَ: كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ، وَكُنَّا نَتَنَاوَبُ الرَّعِيَّةَ، فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ نَوْبَتِي جِئْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ فَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: «مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَيُسَبِّحُ، ثُمَّ يَقُومُ فِي صَلَاتِهِ فَيَعْلَمُ مَا يَقُولُ فِيهَا إِلَّا يُقْبِلُ وَهُوَ كَيَوْمِ وَلَدَتْهُ أُمُّهُ مِنَ الْخَطَايَا لَيْسَ عَلَيْهِ ذَنْبٌ» ، فَمَا مَلَكْتُ نَفْسِي عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ أَنْ قُلْتُ: بَخٍ بَخٍ
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We were with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) on a journey, and we used to take turns tending the animals. When my turn came, I came while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was addressing the people, and I heard him say: "Any Muslim who performs ablution, then glorifies Allah, then stands in his prayer knowing what he is saying in it, returns as free of sins as on the day his mother gave birth to him, with no sin upon him." At that I could not restrain myself and said: How excellent, how excellent!
