حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ، حَدَّثَنِي اللَّيْثُ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ نَشِيطٍ، عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مِنْ أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ دُخَيْنٍ مَوْلَى عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ يَقُولُ: كَانَ لَنَا جِيرَانٌ يَشْرَبُونَ الْخَمْرَ فَنَهَيْتُهُمْ فَلَمْ يَنْتَهُوا فَقُلْتُ لِعُقْبَةَ: إِنَّ جِيرَانَنَا يَشْرَبُونَ الْخَمْرَ قَدْ نَهَيْتُهُمْ فَلَمْ يَنْتَهُوا، وَأَنَا دَاعٍ لَهُمُ الشُّرَطَ قَالَ: دَعْهُمْ، وَيْحَكَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «مَنْ رَأَى عَوْرَةَ مُسْلِمٍ فَسَتَرَهَا فَكَأَنَّمَا أَحْيَا مَوْءُودَةً مِنْ قَبْرِهَا»
Abu al-Haytham Dukhayn (may Allah have mercy on him) said: We had some neighbours who used to drink wine. I forbade them, but they did not stop. So I said to Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him): "Our neighbours drink wine; I have forbidden them but they have not stopped, and I am going to call the police on them." He said: "Leave them, woe to you! I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: 'Whoever sees a fault of a Muslim and conceals it, it is as though he brought back to life a baby girl buried alive from her grave.'"
