Ibn Shihab (al-Zuhri) (may Allah have mercy on him) reported that he heard Umar bin Abd al-Aziz asking Urwah bin al-Zubayr, and Urwah said: Sayyiduna al-Mughirah (may Allah be pleased with him), while he was governor of Kufah, delayed the Asr prayer until evening. Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) went to him and said: O Mughirah, what is this? By Allah, you know that Jibril (peace be upon him) came down and prayed, so the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed, and the people prayed five prayers in this way. Then he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "This is how I have been commanded." At this Umar bin Abd al-Aziz said to Urwah: Know what you are saying, for it was Jibril who fixed the time of prayer. Urwah said: This is what Bashir bin Abi Mas'ud used to narrate from his father.
