It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The angels received the soul of a man who lived before you and said to him: 'Did you ever do any good?' He said: 'No, except that I used to lend to people, and I would order my servants to give respite to the well-off and to pardon the one in hardship.' Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: 'Pardon (him).'"
