Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A man instructed his family that when he died they should burn him, then pound him, then scatter him on a day of violent wind. They did so, and Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, gathered him to Himself and said: "What made you do this?" He said: "O my Lord, no servant of Yours was more disobedient to You than me, but I hoped that I would escape." Allah said: "Pardon My servant." So he was forgiven. Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard this hadith in the same way from the mouth of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).
