Mu'jam Kabir Tabarani 14677 — the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Let

حَدَّثَنَا أَسْلَمُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ الْبُرْجُلَانِيُّ، ثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ الْأَعْمَشِِ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ رَجَاءٍ، عَنْ أَوْسِ بْنِ ضَمْعَجٍ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لِيَؤُمَّكُمْ أَقْرَؤُكُمْ لِلْقُرْآنِ، فَإِنْ كَانَتْ قِرَاءَتُكُمْ وَاحِدَةً فَأَقْدَمُكُمْ هِجْرَةً، فَإِنْ كَانَتْ هِجْرَتُكُمْ وَاحِدَةً فَأَقْدَمُكُمْ سِنًّا، وَلَا يَؤُمُّ رَجُلٌ رَجُلًا فِي سُلْطَانِهِ وَلَا فِي أَهْلِهِ، وَلَا تَجْلِسْ عَلَى تَكْرِمَتِهِ إِلَّا أَنْ يَأْذَنَ لَكَ»
Sayyiduna Abu Mas'ud al-Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Let the best reciter of the Qur'an among you lead you in prayer. If your recitation is the same, then the one who emigrated first. If your emigration is the same, then the one oldest in age. No man should lead another in prayer within the area of his authority or in his household, and do not sit in his place of honour except with his permission."
