Sayyiduna Ismah bin Malik al-Khatmi (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated through the same previous chain: A man from (the tribe of) Khuza'ah came, and Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) met him and asked: Why have you come? He said: I have come to ask the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): if Allah takes you, to whom should we give the sadaqah of our wealth? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "To Abu Bakr." If Allah takes Abu Bakr as well, to whom should we give it? He said: "To Umar." If Allah takes Umar as well, to whom should we give it? He said: "To Uthman." If Allah takes Uthman as well, to whom should we give it? He said: "See to your affairs for yourselves."
