Sayyiduna Utbah bin Abd al-Sulami (may Allah be pleased with him) said: A bedouin came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: What is this Pool of yours that you speak about? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It is as vast as the distance from al-Bayda' to Busra. Allah will make a channel flow into it for me; no human being among the creation of Allah knows its two ends." At this, Sayyiduna Umar bin al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said the takbir and said: As for the Pool, the poor among the Muhajirun who fight in the path of Allah will come to me, and I hope that Allah will show me that channel so that I may drink from it. And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "My Lord has promised me that He will admit seventy thousand of my Ummah into Paradise without reckoning; then each thousand will intercede for seventy thousand; then my Lord will scoop for me with His two hands three handfuls (into Paradise)." At this, Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said the takbir and said: As for the first seventy thousand, Allah will make them intercessors for their fathers and their kinsfolk, and I hope that Allah will place me in one of the last handfuls. The bedouin said: O Messenger of Allah, is there fruit in it? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes, and in it there is a tree called Tuba, which is equal to al-Firdaws." He said: Which tree of our land does it resemble? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It does not resemble any tree of your land; but have you been to al-Sham?" He said: No, O Messenger of Allah. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "It resembles a tree in al-Sham called al-Jawzah (the walnut tree); it grows on a single trunk, then its top spreads out." He said: How thick is its trunk? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If a young she-camel from your family's camels set out, she would not cover its trunk fully before her collarbone broke from old age." He said: Are there grapes in it? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Yes." He said: How big is its bunch? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The distance of a month's journey for a black-and-white crow, without stopping and without tiring." He said: How big is its grape? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Has your father ever slaughtered a large animal from his sheep?" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then he skinned it and gave the hide to your mother and said: Tan this, then make a bucket from it for us with which we may water our livestock?" He said: Yes. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Then it is like that." He said: Then will that one grape suffice me and my household? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "And most of your kinsfolk as well."
