حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحِيمِ الْبَرْقِيُّ، ثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ، ثَنَا أَبُو عُبَيْدَةَ مَعْمَرُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ: " عُتْبَةُ بْنُ غَزْوَانَ يُكْنَى أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ وَقَدْ قِيلَ: أَبُو غَزْوَانَ وَكَانَ طَوِيلًا جَمِيلًا مَاتَ سَنَةَ سَبْعَ عَشْرَةَ وَهُوَ مُتَوَجِّهٌ إِلَى الْبَصْرَةِ فِي مَرَّتِهِ الثَّانِيَةِ وَدُفِنَ فِي بَعْضِ الْمِيَاهِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسٍ وَخَمْسِينَ سَنَةً حَلِيفُ بَنِي نَوْفَلِ بْنِ عَبْدِ مَنَاةَ "
Abu Ubaydah Ma'mar bin al-Muthanna narrated: "Sayyiduna Utbah bin Ghazwan (may Allah be pleased with him) had the kunyah Abu Abdullah, and it has also been said Abu Ghazwan. He was tall and handsome. He died in the year 17 AH while on his way to Basrah on his second journey, and was buried near one of the watering places. At that time he was fifty-five years old. He was an ally of Banu Nawfal bin Abd Manah."
