حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا بَعَثَ عُثْمَانَ إِلَى أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ فَبَايَعَ أَصْحَابَهُ بَيْعَةَ الرِّضْوَانِ، «بَايَعَ لِعُثْمَانَ بِإِحْدَى يَدَيْهِ عَلَى الْأُخْرَى» ، فَقَالَ النَّاسُ: هَنِيئًا لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ يَطُوفُ بِالْبَيْتِ آمِنًا، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «لَوْ مَكَثَ كَذَا وَكَذَا مَا طَافَ حَتَّى أَطُوفَ»
Iyas bin Salamah bin al-Akwa' narrates from his father, Sayyiduna Salamah bin al-Akwa' (may Allah be pleased with him), that when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Uthman to the people of Makkah, and in the meantime he (peace and blessings be upon him) took the Pledge of Ridwan from his Companions, he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave the pledge on behalf of Uthman by placing one of his hands upon the other. The people said: Congratulations to Abu Abdullah (Uthman), who is performing tawaf of the House in safety. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Even if he were to remain there for such-and-such a length of time, he would not perform tawaf until I perform tawaf."
